The Swayne family has landed back in their boots! We are back in Texas after four and a half fantastic years in Loveland CO. It is as hot as I remember, the bugs and flying things are still here. It’s Texas, it’s home, hasn’t changed. This time we moved out in the sticks and I truly mean OUT! We have been here two weeks and life is better than I expected. Our two young men are settled and working for some friends on their nearby ranch. Our oldest has the challenge of training a two year old filly, something he has never attempted. I think he is going to call her Rookie, a perfect name considering she is new at this and so is he. He only has about six weeks with us and will be moving to his college dorm, which is also a new chapter for all of us. Lots of changes for our family are taking place. I am having the hardest time adjusting to my new surroundings. I miss the excitement of living in a vibrant urban community, my over the fence neighbors, walking out my front door and seeing people! I miss our favorite pub and all the conveniences we had. Having said all that, I do appreciate the stars at night, they are truly big and bright, the quite at night, it makes for a restfull sleep. Our very small country home allows us to be very close to one another, I see our boys way more. Our sweet dog, Benelli, no longer needs a leash, nor do I have to have someone on poo duty in the yard. She sees all sorts of things she has never seen. She came, literally, nose to nose with an armadillo under my husbands chair in the yard one evening, the armadillo took off under the house where she pointed for hours. It was great entertainment. Our intentions are to stay here till our youngest graduates in three years then make a decision if we love the country life or want to move back to a city. I am leaning neither direction at this point, a bit indifferent, I do want to give it a chance. I plan on getting a couple of horses and a few (pet) chickens. We will see how it goes. Wish I could post some pictures with my update however, I traded my desk top for a refurbished lap top due to lack of space, it has no portal for my camera card, not happy. I am working on it. God is good! Maybe I will write more with all this time on my hands.
